Online Notepad is a free browser-based writing area for quick notes, drafts, and snippets. It saves as you type, keeps everything on your device, and needs no account or app. Pair it with word-counter, case-converter, or speech-to-text when your note needs counting, restyling, or dictation.

How It Works

Everything runs locally: your text is kept in this browser's storage and restored the next time you open the page. Counts compute as you type (updating shortly after each pause), and Copy and Download read the same editor — your note text is not sent anywhere.

What happens if I clear browser data?

Your notes are deleted with your browser data. Clearing site data, or closing a private/incognito window, removes notes stored there. Download a .txt backup for anything you need to keep.

How Your Notes Are Stored

Your notes are saved only in this browser. Note text is never sent to our servers. The note lives under one localStorage key (lt-online-notepad-v1) on this device: it is written about half a second after you pause typing and again when you leave the page. No account, no email, no upload — and note text is never part of any request this page makes.

Verify it yourself

Step 1: Type a few words, then open DevTools (F12) → Application (Chrome/Edge) or Storage (Firefox) → Local Storage → livetools.in. The lt-online-notepad-v1 entry contains your text and nothing else.
Step 2: Keep the Network tab open while you type — no request carries your note text.
Step 3: Open js/tools/online-notepad.js — it only reads and writes this page's localStorage; there is no fetch or XHR that sends your note.

Before you rely on it

Notes are tied to this browser on this device — another computer or phone will not see them.
Notes are stored in your browser's local storage. Anyone using the same browser profile on this device may be able to access them.
Clearing site data or browser data deletes them, and private/incognito notes disappear when that window closes.
Browsers allow a limited amount of local storage (typically a few megabytes per site) — download a .txt backup for long notes.
